A ONE and TWENTY-NINE...

Month-Old!

Wow, the hours, days, weeks and now month are flying by! It is hard to believe that our newest addition is a one-month-old. Last week we had his one-month check-up. He weighed in at 8 lbs 7.5 ounces, just shy of 8 1/2 lbs. He is 21 inches long. He is in the 10% for weight, height and head circumference. But we are all pleased with the way he is growing! He continues to be our sleeping, easy going baby but last Wednesday he decided to "wake-up" a bit and we have actually seen his eyes open more than just a few minutes a day. He has even begun to look around and to engage us. It has been fun for Anna to have him awake a little more.
Our twenty-nine-month-old is full of life. She keeps us on our toes and smiling most of the time with the things that come out of her mouth. Here are just a few of the sayings that have us smiling and laughing throughout the day...

"oh my goodness gracious" Anytime anything unexpected or exciting happens.

"hey mom, don't give splash, I need a lot." Everything to this two-year-old is "I need." These words are heard multiple times a day in reference to how much milk she needs in her cup. Speaking of milk, last week she had her first milkshake, which she calls a "shakemilk." She of course LOVED it.

The other day while in the stroller she told me she needed to get out to walk. When I kept her in the stroller she insisted that she needed to get out and walk for exercise. It took me a while to identify the word "exercise."
Most days Anna does get her exercise with a walk around the block either with her daddy or Shar. However, I am not so sure it is for exercise as the first words out of her mouth when she heads out for her walk are, "see people...need to see people." Yes, she is for sure our social butterfly and loves to interact with anyone and everyone. She not only greets daddy everyday from work in the afternoon but both of our neighbors. She has a full conversation with each of them about their days. Just last night she asked one of them if they were going to church as she knows they sing in the choir.

Often when Daddy is home I hear these words...
"daddy, please get you."
and he will say, "get who"
her response, "get my Anna"
I love the "you" and "my." We often call our sweet girl, "my Anna." Thus, she refers to herself this way a lot too!

"he too wittle" When Aiden can't do something such as talk, walk, etc.

"when I get older" When Anna can't do something. The other day she was trying to walk up the stairs with something in her hands. She passed off the object as it was too difficult to climb with the object in hand but stated she would be able to do it when she got older.

"Sunday?" This is heard anytime something is closed. This came about one day when we were heading home from church and Anna asked to go to Chick-fil-A. We shared with her that it was closed on Sundays. Several weeks later we were walking around downtown and several shops were closed. Anna kept pulling on locked doors and stating "Sunday." After a long while we finally realized that she associates something being closed to Sunday.

"whatcha doin, mom" This is a phrase I hear ALL day long. If for some reason I do not answer she will then say, "amy, watcha doin"

The other day I caught Anna up on the couch sitting next to the breast pump with her shirt up stating she was "pumpn." She had attached all the pieces correctly and had turned on the pump. It made for a great laugh! Anytime I sit down to pump she asks, "mom you goin to pump real quick?"

"i can't talk eat" At some point we shared with Anna that it was not polite to talk and eat. Now if we ask her a question during a mealtime she often says this phrase or if we happen to be talking with our mouths full she is VERY quick to share with us that we need to stop talking. Mealtime is much quieter these days. :)

"ummmm....probably" How she answers most questions these days or when she is pondering something.
I know there are many more but these are just a few that come to this sleep deprived mom's mind. We are surely loving being the parents of our one and twenty-nine month-olds!

Anna is hilarious! I look forward to the witty side of a two year old. By the way, Eli pumps too...we haven't bothered explaining to him that his efforts will forever be in vain. Aiden sure is a sweet little boy!
