An old and new favorite...

Even in the heat and with the excitement of the pool, Anna frequently asks to go to the park. It is still one of her favorite destinations. The surprising new favorite is that she is finally a fan of the swing. No, not the baby swing, which has never been enticing to our little one. Kevin just the other night put away our swing for the second time as it is still not being used by our little one. Instead this little girl prefers the big swing where she is actually starting to put together the forward thrust of her body and the pumping of her legs. She wants to be very independent when she is on the swing.

Open wide...

This wide-eyed little girl had her first "official" visit to the dentist last Wednesday. She did amazing. She sat perfectly still in her chair as they brushed, polished and flossed her teeth. The dentist then did a thorough examination of her mouth, gums and bite as well as took a scaler to her front teeth. Anna did not budge. It was a little tricky for her at first to know exactly how to suck on the straw that sucked out the water they put in her mouth. Since her visit to the dentist she has been using "real" toothpaste with fluoride and has even learned to spit after each brush. She still gets tickled each time she finishes brushing with her daddy and runs to tell me she just "spit out."

Lake fun!

About a month ago we headed to Smith Mountain Lake for the week leading up to the 4th. We spent our days taking early morning walks to see the cows, watching the fish on the dock, relaxing in the hammock, and enjoying being together as a family. Anna still isn't sure about swimming in the lake nor is she a huge fan of the boat. We think it is because she was so sick over Memorial Day (which we did not know until after the boat ride) when she last went out on the boat. But she loves her baby pool there and loves to be out and about watching the sights and sounds of the lake, especially all the boats and waverunners. Each boat that passes is just as thrilling as the last.

Anna spent one afternoon snapping beans with Shar. Anna quickly learned the technique and became a diligent worker until all the beans were snapped. She would grin from ear to ear after she snapped a bean!
Water and land games were enjoyed by all. Mostly the men partook in the water games as the pregnant women had to be bystanders. However, we did all venture out for a game of putt-putt, another first for Anna (if you don't count the game played when she was in the Baby Bjorn). She lasted about 4 holes before she was ready to sit and watch the carp that were swimming near by.

Cow Appreciation Day!

We have been on the MOOOOve and I have several posts to catch up on but thought I would post a picture of our little cow. Yesterday was Chick-fil-A's Cow Appreciation Day. If you dressed like a cow from head to toe you received a FREE combo and if you just wore a cow accessory you received a FREE menu item. We met up with some friends last night for an absolutely FREE dinner. Wish I had pictures of all 9 of us. Anna is a huge fan of Chick-fil-A and asks to go anytime we pass one. However, she is terrified of the cow. Every time she sees him she asks to be held and will not get near him no matter how many high fives mommy or daddy gives the cow. But by the time we get to the car, Anna is saying she is ready to give the cow five and says she will do so the next time we see him. So far no high fives have been given by our little one. A cup of water with a top and straw continues to be one of the highlights of Anna's dinning out experience. Tonight we were at the pool and we went up to the grill to order our food. Once there, Anna passed by all those in line ahead of us and leaned up to the window and asked for a cup, straw and top with a huge grin on her face.
